Hi! My name is Emma Rose and I’m a 17 year old polymer clay artist. Three years ago, I picked up polymer clay and started my little business! All my pieces are hand sculpted and hand painted with beautiful colors and details. I specialize in creating stunning and realistic bakery/food themed charms. I recently started making sculptures and gun charms, and they have been a huge hit on Etsy!
This story never fails to crack me up. When I very first started, I threw a clay sculpture in our microwave to cure for six minutes. A few seconds later the clay caught fire and smoke was pouring out of the microwave! To this day I still think about the incident and I can still smell the burnt clay. I have come so far from the experience and I now work safely with polymer clay and a timer! Never put clay in an microwave kids! Follow the instructions on the package.
Starting my small business has been an amazing adventure. I made my very first friends because of it. I overcame my shyness and I’m not as antisocial. It’s taken me through so much. Sure, I have my moments of wanting to quit and move on to something else, but it has helped me become who I am now and I just can't leave it behind.
Why do I create polymer clay charms? I think about this question about 50 times a day. When I started selling my work in 2018, I thought people wouldn’t show interest. Over the past 3 years I learned that people valued my work and they would connect with a story I told on Instagram or it would remind them of their childhood, etc. It’s really amazing to create something that people will gift to themselves or family and friends to cherish forever.
Want to know more about me? Here’s a few random things about myself!
I’ve been homeschooled since kindergarten! Being homeschooled has allowed me to enjoy a lot more of the day, spend time with family, and of course, work on my small business.
My favorite bands are: Alter Bridge, Tremonti, Aaron Lewis, Tommy Vext, Shinedown, and Pop Evil. The list goes on! Music is one of my biggest inspirations and the people who write the songs. I could talk about bands all day if you give me the chance.
I also took up photography! Sometimes I go out and spend the evening taking pictures. The bee picture is a small example of what type of pictures I take and is currently one of my favorites.
Many people are surprised, but Dragon Fart Studios on Instagram is my sister. We both sometimes collaborate with our businesses on social media, so be sure to follow us to see what craziness we are up to!
