Hi! My name is Emma Rose and I’m an 18-year-old polymer clay artist. Four years ago, I picked up polymer clay and started my little business. All my pieces are hand-sculpted and hand-painted with beautiful colors and details. I specialize in creating stunning and realistic bakery/food themed charms and miniatures. I recently started making sculptures, ornaments, and gun charms, and they have been a huge hit on Instagram!
Starting my small business has been an amazing adventure and has taken me through so much. I made my first friends out of it. I overcame my shyness and I’m not as anti-social, but I can still be very socially awkward. Some days, I have my doubts and moments of wanting to quit and move on. My business helped me become the person I am today and I just can’t leave it behind. I still have so much to learn and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me.
Why should I make polymer clay charms? I think about this question about fifty times a day. When I started selling my work in 2018, I thought people would immediately show interest and love everything I had in my shop, and not many people did for a while! For the next 4 years, I learned that you had to work hard to establish who you are as an artist and to show people why your art matters. After a few months, I built a brand that I love and made friends with a group of fellow polymer clay artists and entrepreneurs on Instagram. Many people started to value and connect to my work because it reminded them of childhood memories, etc. I create polymer clay charms because it’s amazing to create something people would gift to themselves or family and friends to love and cherish forever.
Want to know more about me? Here are a few things about myself!
I’ve been homeschooled since kindergarten, and I graduated in 2022! Being homeschooled has allowed me to enjoy most of the day and work on my business.
I’m also a photographer! Taking pictures of my cat Myles and sunsets are my favorite to take.
When I very first started working with clay, I threw a homemade clay sculpture in the microwave for 6 minutes. A few seconds later, the clay caught fire and smoke was pouring out of the bottom of the microwave! I’ve come so far from the incident I can now safely use polymer clay and follow the direct instructions. To this day, I still make mistakes.
My family and friends are one of my biggest inspirations. I definitely would not be here growing my business without them and I love them with all my heart.
My second inspiration is my sister. She’s my best friend and a super talented artist! She would just pick up a random piece of scrap paper and pencil and sketch up something awesome. You can find her on Instagram under the name, @dragonfartstudios.
My third biggest inspiration is music. My top favorite genre is rock. Here’s a very small list of my favorite bands. Alter Bridge, Aaron Lewis, Tommy Vext, Shinedown, Tremonti, and so many more!
